  53. 2. INSTALLATION AND USE

  56. Before installing Sygate Personal Firewall, it is recommended that
  57. you close all other applications that may be accessing your modem
  58. drivers or network.

  61. IMPORTANT: For ISDN via Ethernet, DSL, cable modem, you need to
  62. verify that these devices can connect to your computer through
  63. Ethernet. DirecPC users, please see the Section 5, entitled
  64. "Known Issues".

  75. Sygate Personal Firewall 5.0 may block Enterasys Aurorean VPN client
  76. software. To resolve the issue, please create an advanced security
  77. rule as the following:

  79. 1. Allow both inbound & outbound traffic with Protocol: IP Type 223.

  85. There is a timeout discrepancy between the DirecPC and the Sygate
  86. Personal Firewall services. Users who utilize DirecPC should do the
  87. following to insure smooth operation -

  89. 1. After installing Sygate Personal Firewall, open DirecPC. 
  90.  
  91. 2. When the Sygate Personal Firewall pop-up message asks if you wish
  92. to allow DirecPC access to your network, place a check in the
  93. "Remember my answer and don't ask me again for this application"
  94. check box and click "Yes".

  120. 5. KNOWN ISSUES
  121. ====================================

  123. The following are known issues in this build of Sygate Personal Firewall
  124. 5.0. They will be addressed or fixed in later builds/versions of this
  125. product:
  126.  
  127. * You will continue to get frequent prompts even when
  128.   "Auto Allow Known DLLs" is enabled.
  129.  
  130. * If the host PC system has multiple network protocol drivers installed,
  131.   Sygate Personal Firewall may have significant performance impact.
  132.  
  133. * The "Block Traffic When Service Is Not Running" selection may prevent
  134.   the host PC from receiving IP address from DHCP server.
  135.  
  136. * Sygate Personal Firewall does not support Windows XP fast switch feature.
  137.  
  138. * Sygate Personal Firewall may not be compatible with other personal
  139.   firewalls. It is NOT recommended to install multiple firewalls on a
  140.   system.
  141.  
  142. * Sygate Personal Firewall is not compatible with BlackIce Defender.
  143.  
  144. * Launching an Internet browser from Sygate Personal Firewall user
  145.   interface will trigger Internet Connection Wizard if you have never
  146.   configured your Internet connection.

  148. * Activating Stealth Mode Browsing may cause some web pages and
  149.   RealAudio to fail.
  150.  
  151. * Sygate Personal Firewall may cause a Windows 98 system unable to
  152.   shutdown if NetBEUI coexists on the system.
